About the Unit
The MCH Paediatric Orthopaedic Department provides a comprehensive range of Orthopaedic surgery for Children and Adolescents including subspecialties in: Paediatric Hip and Knee, Cerebral Palsy and Neuromuscular surgery, Trauma, Limb reconstruction, Sports medicine and Skeletal dysplasia. It is part of the wider Monash Orthopaedic Surgery Department, offering a cradle-to-grave service.
About the Role
Provide general paediatric orthopaedic care at Monash Children's Hospital.
Provide operative and non-operative care to patients with common paediatric orthopaedic presentations, including both elective and essential operations, as well as emergency presentations.
Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the Orthopaedic Unit, Monash Health.
Support the Orthopaedic Unit's outreach services within Monash Health.
Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees.
Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Orthopaedic Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients.
Supervise Junior Medical Staff in your Unit and ensure that when on-call or on ward service, clear instructions are provided on when and how junior staff reporting to you should contact you for patient related matters.
Build supportive relations with Junior Medical Staff who report to you and encourage open communication including escalation of clinical and non-clinical concerns.
Applicants should hold full fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery with RACS and Australian Orthopaedic Association or equivalent, completion of an approved Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and practical experience in the management of General Paediatric orthopaedic conditions.
Applicants should hold an Australian Passport or equivalent.
